Any ideas on how to get family members to contribute items to the family newsletter..?

I have been putting out the family newsletter for a while now. However, it's like pulling teeth to get them to send me any items to be placed in the newsletter. What am I doing wrong? I'm just about at the point of dropping the whole project.
