How can I update my style without spending much money?

I have a sort of boring wardrobe. All of my clothes are from Old Navy, Lands' End, L.L. Bean, and used clothing stores. I once read an issue of Teen Vogue, and I really liked the ideas in there. But they were all so expensive. How can I be more fashionable without breaking the bank?
