My Boyfriend Told Me...?

My boyfriend said "I have to tell you something." He then said that had his mother been alive it would have been her birthday today, and that she would have turned 52... I Said "awww" and tried to comfort him, and he said don't be like that. For what purpose did he tell me, if he doesn't want my support?!
