Should I make the cage higher or the chain shorter?

so today was a particularly hard day at work, i've been dealing with nothing but asking me questions and pestering me. On the ride home i get pulled over by the cops for driving on a "suspended license" get taken into central booking and after four hours of being harrased by cops they discover they made a mistake! what a surprise!! then when i get home i am met by my wife at the door to my surprise i am greeted by another ... so all i have to ask is this, how did she get out of the kitchen?
