Will a draft n device work with an n router?

My trusty old Linksys WRT54G decided to go full on retard so I need to get a new router. My laptop that I used on my network has a DRAFT N card and I have no idea how it would work with a standard n router. My router must be Linux-based and the only ones that I know are Linux based at my local Best Buy are all wireless n (like the Cisco Valet i've had my eyes on) and i'm too paranoid to buy anything on the internet (if I weren't I would have ordered a Linux-based wireless g Netgear router and I wouldn't even be asking this).
